Emily's Story

Emily has had three promotions in four years and loves the satisfaction her role gives her every day

Emily Kipling joined Autism Initiatives as an Additional Support Worker while studying Health & Social Work at university. Now, four years, later she’s a full time Senior Support Worker. We asked Emily about her AI story.

Emily said: “I started as an ASW when I was in university studying health and social work, I then progressed on to a Support Worker and am now currently a Senior Support Worker. I have really enjoyed progressing my career and working my way up has helped me gain more of an understanding of different roles and the vocational training needed for these roles.”

Every member of staff at Autism Initiatives is provided with support and training to help them develop and Emily has recently celebrated achieving a triple Distinction in the Lead Adult Care Worker Apprenticeship Standard Level 3 with the full support of her Line Manager and Area Manager – Claire and Victoria.

Emily explained: “It took one year for me to complete my Level 3 Apprenticeship. Some of my diploma was completed using video technology (including observation of practice) and I received great support from my Diploma assessor and all of Autism Initiatives staff. I am really happy to have completed my Level 3 Apprenticeship with a triple distinction and have really enjoyed undertaking my qualifications.”

A triple distinction is the highest accolade given by awarding bodies for apprenticeships and takes into account not only the portfolio of work, but also a professional discussion and a situational judgement test. This is an outstanding achievement made even more exceptional by the challenging environment in which we were all working during the pandemic.

Autism Initiatives recognises the importance of apprenticeships and are proud to be members of the Employer Ambassador Network for Apprenticeships.
